Wellsboro Girls Sweep NTL Cross Country Meet
By: Ed Weaver / October 5, 2011
The girls traveled to Troy on Tuesday with a single goal in mind. The goal was to defeat the Sayre's girls team that had just beaten them in the Northeast Invitational on Saturday. The girls ran a super race and were able to defeat Sayre 26-31. What the girls didn’t know is that Troy would be the toughest competition of the day. The girls defeated Troy by the narrow margin of 27-28.
These two wins raise the girls overall record to 7-1 (6-1 NTL) and sets up a very important meet next Tuesday when they take on Towanda and Wyalusing in the final NTL meet of the season. Two wins in this meet may result in a tie for the Girl’s NTL Championship.
Charlotte Worthington and Randi Grim were the top finishers for Wellsboro as they finished second and fourth respectively. The Hornets will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Jersey Shore for a non-league meet.
