Girls XC sweeps Towanda, Troy, NRCS, boys beat NRCS

The Wellsboro Cross Country teams took on Towanda, Troy, and North Rome Christian on Tuesday, October 7.
The girls team swept the meet, beating Towanda 18-37, Troy 19-38, and NRCS 15-50. Freshman Anna Bleggi took home the top spot with a time of 24:42, Junior Jordyn Coffee was 3rd (24:53), Junior Samantha Bailey was 5th (25:09), Senior Annie Sweeney was 6th (25:39), Junior Camryn Keane was 7th (25:47), and Senior Caitlynn Butler was 15th (29:26).
In the boys race, the Hornets lost to Towanda 21-38, lost to Troy 17-43, and beat NRCS 23-35. Sophomore Alden Weiner was the top finisher in 8th (20:58), Sophomore Bryon Callahan was 10th (21:52), Sophomore Joey Messmer was 12th (22:44), Freshman Connor Brought was 18th (23:46), Senior Dalton Messmer was 22nd (24:03), Freshman Kyle Wilson was 25th (24:53), Freshman Logan Morral was 30th (26:06), and Freshman Noah Smith was 33rd (29:42).
The girls are now 11-1 (8-1 NTL) and the boys are 3-9 (1-8 NTL). Both teams will be at the NTL Coaches Invite on Saturday, October 11.
