Lady Hornets sweep, boys fall, to Towanda and South Williamsport

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls XC team picked up a pair of wins over Towanda and South Williamsport on their home course on Tuesday, October 6.
The Lady Hornets beat Towanda 18-39 and South Williamsport 15-50. The Towanda girls also topped South Williamsport 15-50.
Sophomore Madeline Bryant (23:53) was the top Lady Hornet in 2nd overall followed closely by sophomore Havah Simcox (24:05) and sophomore Julia DeCamp (24:53) in 5th. Senior Aislinn Hoose (26:13) was 8th overall, freshman Maddy Callahan (28:34) was 10th, freshman Madison Robbins (29:47) was 13th, and sophomore Madeline Gage (29:50) was 14th.
In the boys race South Williamsport beat Towanda 18-38. Wellsboro fell to both South Williamsport and Towanda 15-50.
Aidan Fletcher (20:18) and junior Gabe Guignard (20:20) were 6th and 7th overall, junior Liam Manning (23:19) was 12th, and senior Anthony Dunkel (27:44) was 16th.
In the Middle School race Towanda beat Wellsboro 15-50 in the boys race. Wellsboro beat Towanda 15-50 in the girls race and was edged out 22-33 by South Williamsport.
Joseph Busch (11:23) was 2nd overall, Christopher Greenawalt (11:48) was 4th, and Jullian Linden (15:54) was 10th. Megan Robbins (13:58) was 5th, Makenna Robbins (14:49) was 7th, Brooke Wheeler (15:26) was 8th, Kristina Belz (16:10) was 10th, and Paige Murdock (19:01) was 14th.
Both teams are back in action next Tuesday, October 13 for a quad-meet with North Penn-Mansfield, Northeast Bradford, and Athens at Athens.
