Wellsboro Girls Beat Troy, Boys Split With Troy, Sayre

The Wellsboro Cross Country teams hosted Troy and Sayre in an NTL tri-meet Tuesday afternoon, with the Lady Hornets defeating the Troy girls, and the boys splitting the race.
Junior Lauren Kosek led the Lady Hornets to a 25-30 win over Troy as she paced the field with a 23:17. Freshman Kaci Kosek (26:42) came home 2nd, sophomore Luisa Crocco (32:38) was 5th and sophomore Anja Przybycien (35:06) was 7th.
In the boys race the Hornets beat Sayre 15-50, but fell to Troy, 25-36.
Seniors Max Macias (19:46) and Henry Whitney (20:09) finished 1-2 while freshman Taitt Webster (26.12) came home 15th. Senior Henry Nowak (26:22) finished 16th, sophomore Jack Hammerton (28:32) came home 18th, and freshman Austin DeShazo (30:33) rounded out the field in 19th.
In the Junior High races the young Lady Hornets fell 15-50 while the boys beat Troy 24-31 and Sayre, 17-38.
For the girls Summer Boder came home 2nd in 16:13 and Serenity Harrison finished 5th in 19:33.
For the boys Lucas Crowl (14:12) was 2nd, William Rudy (14:28) came home 3rd, Wiley Sargent (14:32) was 4th, Emmett Tice (15:32) was 7th, and Jeff Rawson (16:57) was 10th.
Both teams travel to Athens next Tuesday.
