Hornet XC Splits With Troy, Sayre

The Wellsboro Boys Cross Country team earned a split decision in a tri-meet with Troy and Sayre on Tuesday afternoon.

Wellsboro defeated Sayre 15-50 and lost to Troy, 16-47. Troy also defeated Sayre, 15-50.

Freshman William Rudy was the top-finisher for the Hornets, coming home in 6th in 21:19. Sophomore Taitt Webster (23:12) and freshman Lucas Crowl (23:12) were 11th and 12th, junior Jack Hammerton (23:24) was 13th, Jacob Patterson (24:24) finished 14th, sophomore Jesse Spicer (24:24) took 15th, freshman Jeff Rawson (26:15) was 18th, freshman Justin Dunlap (30:38) took 19th, and freshman Aaron Salevsky (30:42) was 20th.

Wellsboro beat Troy in the Junior High race, 16-20. Wiley Sargent (10:08), Colton Coolidge (10:08) and Emmett Tice (12:40) finished 2nd-4th and Devin Shaw (26:04) was 8th.

Troy's Liam Shedden set a new course record with a time of 9:46.

The Varsity team will be back in action Thursday at the Paul Short Invite at Lehigh University, then both teams are at the NTL Coaches Invite at Northeast Bradford on October 17.
